How DentistTracker works
1. We check daily
Every day we re-check the acceptance status that each of England's NHS dental practices reports to the NHS website.
2. We track changes
When a practice opens up to new NHS patients — or closes its list — we record the change, so you can see what's really happening.
3. You get there first
See who's accepting near you, sorted by how recently they confirmed, with phone numbers ready. Phone, confirm, book.

Frequently asked questions
How do I find an NHS dentist near me that's taking new patients?
Type your town or postcode into the search box above. We list every NHS dental practice in England and show which ones reported accepting new patients to the NHS website, with the date each practice last confirmed its status. Phone the practice to confirm before travelling — availability changes daily.
How accurate is this data?
Every practice's status comes directly from the official NHS website, where practices self-report availability and are asked to confirm it at least every 90 days. We re-check every practice daily and show you exactly when each one last confirmed. We never guess — if a practice hasn't confirmed recently, we tell you that.
Do I need to register with an NHS dentist to be seen?
In England there's no GP-style registration or catchment area — you can approach any NHS dentist that's accepting new patients, anywhere in the country. For urgent problems you don't need to be a patient anywhere: call NHS 111 for an urgent dental appointment.
How much does NHS dental treatment cost?
In England you pay one charge per course of treatment: Band 1 £27.90 (check-up, X-rays), Band 2 £76.60 (fillings, extractions, root canal) or Band 3 £332.10 (crowns, dentures, bridges). Children and some adults get free treatment.
What if no dentist near me is accepting NHS patients?
Join waiting lists at several local practices, check nearby towns on our tracker, and keep checking back — statuses genuinely change every week. For anything urgent, call NHS 111. Our guide on what to do when no NHS dentist is available covers all your options, including dental schools and community dental services.
